What is a dynasty trade calculator?

In dynasty fantasy football, your roster carries over from season to season, so every trade is really a bet on the next 2–3 years, not just this Sunday. A dynasty trade calculator turns that bet into numbers: every player and every future draft pick is assigned a value that reflects talent, age, and position scarcity. Add what you're giving and what you're receiving, and you immediately see whether the deal is fair — and which side should be asking for more.

The RosterWorth dynasty trade calculator above is free, works without an account, and supports both 1QB and superflex/2QB league formats. It handles multi-player trades, 2-for-1s, and pick-heavy rebuild moves, and every verdict comes with a plain-English explanation, not just a number.

How the verdict is calculated

  1. Ranking curve. Each asset's base value comes from its position on the consensus dynasty ranking board — the same market wisdom your league mates read.
  2. Age factor. Players 23 and younger get a boost; players 30+ get discounted. In dynasty, youth is an asset.
  3. Format adjustment. Superflex leagues re-rank quarterbacks, so values switch automatically when you toggle formats.
  4. Side comparison. Both sides are summed. A gap within ±4% grades as a fair trade; anything wider is a clear win for one side.

Why our values are explainable

Test the same trade on six popular calculators and you can easily get three different answers — because most tools hide their math. RosterWorth publishes the formula: value = ranking curve × age factor. When the calculator says you lose a trade by 12%, you can see exactly which asset created the gap.

Use the number as a second opinion, not a verdict from the sky. If your league mate is desperate for a running back, the market inside your league is the real market — the calculator just keeps you from giving away the farm.

Frequently asked questions

What is a dynasty trade calculator?

A dynasty trade calculator compares the two sides of a fantasy football trade using player values that account for talent, age, and position scarcity in dynasty leagues, where rosters carry over year to year. It tells you whether the trade is fair, or which side is winning.

How does the RosterWorth trade calculator work?

Every player and draft pick gets a RosterWorth Index value: a consensus ranking curve multiplied by an age factor. Add the assets each side gives and receives, and the calculator sums both sides, shows the percentage gap, and explains the result in plain language.

Are dynasty trade calculators accurate?

No calculator is a final answer — the same trade can grade differently across six popular tools. RosterWorth shows you exactly how each value is built so you can judge the trade yourself instead of trusting a black box.

How often are player values updated?

Values are recalibrated weekly during the NFL season (September through January) and every 2–4 weeks in the offseason, tracking consensus rankings after games, injuries, and depth-chart changes.

Does the calculator support superflex and 2QB leagues?

Yes. Toggle between 1QB and Superflex/2QB formats at the top of the calculator — quarterback values rise significantly in superflex leagues.

Should I trade my veteran for a first-round pick?

Compare the veteran's value against the pick's value (early, mid, and late first-round picks are all in the picks list). The verdict also factors average age, so you can see whether the deal fits a rebuild or a win-now push.
